Listed below are our planned upcoming projects. Your input, suggestions or
ideas are always welcome. Email us from the contact page.
New York "S"-FRA
On Nov 19, 2009 the FAA introduced the New York Special Flight Rules Area.
On Nov 20 & again on Nov 30th, we flew thru the Hudson River corridor
using both the Skyline Route and the VFR Exclusion Area. Newark & La Guardia
tower controller and local helicopter operators join us in helping pilots
safely navigate this busy and congested airspace.
Prop Overhaul & Dynamic Balance
Meet the mechanics at Sensenich Propeller in Lancaster, PA as they demonstrate
and explain the procedures involved in prop overhaul & balancing. Learn
the safety advantages for performing this relatively inexpensive procedure.
Make Better Use of Your Radio
Your radio is an invaluable tool for VFR as well as IFR pilots. See how easy
it is to - find the correct frequency & get a weather update in the cockpit
from FSS; call-in a PIREP; Check the status of a MOA ahead. When to listen
to weather on HIWAS & AWOS. Make emergency phone calls from the air without
a cell phone.
Stabilized Approaches to Landing
Stabilized Approaches are the focus of the FAA in 2010. Bob Reed won the AYA
2002 Spot Landing Contest. This video will highlight tips to make accurate,
stabilized approaches to your landing spot.
Crosswind Landings
Sideslip Slip or Crab & Kick? We'll look at the advantages and disadvantages
and reasons for both. You can find the demonstrated cross wind component in
your pilots operating handbook. But how do you tell when you've reached the
limits of safety?
The Impossible Turn - A Fatal Mistake?
Between 1994 & 2000 there were 394 stall accidents. 82.5% were fatal.
The largest percentage of these fatal accidents were takeoff and departure
stalls. Aviation Safety Videos will look at the impossible turn back to the
runway from inside the cockpit.
Evaluating Emergency Landing Sites
Is that road the best place to land or are you just turning your problem into
someone else's problem too. Aviation Safety Videos will look at how to rank
and evaluate probable emergency landing sites.
After the GDP - Who Says I Have To Land
Bad decision making is the root cause of a majority of pilot over-run accidents.
With the hopeful implementation of GDP as visual aid, Aviation Safety Videos
looks into the decision making process that often leads to an incorrect choice
and inevitably an accident.
Roaming TFR
TFR's seem to pop up out of nowhere and with increasing frequency. Learn the
general rules necessary to navigate one these surprise TFR's when it pops
up in your area like a Presidential TFR did for us in nearby Allentown, PA.
Analysis Of An Accident
Come along with PIC Rob Cauthorne, and Bob Reed as they detail the 19 minutes
aloft, the steps they took and the decisions they made, to arrive safely on
Interstate 99 after losing the #3 cylinder on an engine with only 300 hours.
Dive and Drive
Bury it, before it buries you..turning a non-precision approach into precision
thing of beauty
